You may need to set rule or guidelines that state what is acceptable collaboration.
\n2. Using heterogeneous grouping allows students to learn from one another.
\n3. You may want to use a tool to support student questioning skill like the KWL chart.

\nWhat a great idea for a lesson. Your students will be highly motivated to research this topic, and I think it will open their eyes to the reasons behind the laws as they explore. This should be an exciting lesson for them.
\nIs the only final project for this lesson the discussion on Ning? Have you used this application in the past? I looked into it, and it sounded like there is a fee to use the site. Did you find out how much it costs? Do you think your school will pay? I wonder if you could post on Ning to try and find another class from somewhere else who are also at driving age. It would be interesting to see how different the laws are in different states or countries.
\nThis is going to be such a fun lesson! Good luck.

Ning isn't that expensive for small groups, so I think the most it would cost for one class is $19.99. I do usually get a budget for the year, but if the distrcit couldn't pay for it, I would definitely. I think it will be better to use a closed community like that rather than facebook or something that already has a lot of personal information on it. That would be really interesting to try to hook up with another group like that to discuss these things. There may even be some parent groups which would give them another perspective too.
